Old Tick Issue

Postby raysiow » 2010-01-27, 02:19:41 am

I'm trading with Alpari UK. Frequently I'm getting an error message in my MT4 Journal tab stating 'Old Tick'. Once this happens, I have to restart my MT4 cos the Megadroid will not work. However it has occurred to me that this 'Old Tick' happened when a trade was open and the Megadriod could not response. I have restarted MT4, but Megadriod failed to register the open trade. As a result, lost lots of pip when the trade hit stop loss. Anyone can help in this 'Old Tick' issue? Thanks

The "Old Tick" problem...

I checked my Journal on my Alpari/UK account that I use for other programs and did find several "Old Ticks" tonite on various currency pairs on my LIVE account... fortunately, this did not affect my trading... I checked a few other accounts I have going on, GoMarkets, Forex.com, MIG and noticed some "Old Tick" messages in those Journals also...

When this nonsense happens to a Live Trade, I would get on the phone with my broker to try to negotiate the trade's closing price... you might not win but then again, you might win the trade's profit taking or break even... or even be able to have the broker close the trade for you if you are not able to yourself...

Guess this is an inherent thing going on with some brokers here and traders should keep an eye out for this...

That for the suggestion. However did you try the ForexMeta broker which Albert & John (Megadroid team) suggested? Or have you tried some other brokers which has no dealing desk MT4 execution, which might prevent 'Old Tick'? Please advise. Thanks.

Hello Raysiow,

I have worked with so many different brokers over the years... and ForexMeta was one I did have at the suggestion of the FapTurbo Crew, Mike, Uli and Steve and that ea worked for only so long and then the Spreads with ForexMeta as an ib for FXDD increased my spread that did not let the bot trade any longer - so there's an example of spread increases with using ForexMeta... one big reason why I left ForexMeta in the dust as fast as I could last year...

I'll have to check all my broker now to see which ones are "dealing desks" and which ones are not... I'll post again as soon as I know... they do include MIG, ITFX, Forex.com, GoMarkets, Alpari/UK, FXDD, FXOpen and I still have FXCM/UK powered by BT but with a minimal deposit as I had issues with the Boston Technologies platform and my trading...

Cheers,

Colleen ;)

I'm having the same "old tick" problem with FXCM. It happens on and off and triggers several alerts for the same exact tick. MD seems to keep on working an calculating things, is it having an effect or denying trades? How do I prevent this?

thx
